ARP-1944 is the human T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia cell line CEM-TART transformed to constitutively expresses the human immunodeficiency virus 1 (HIV-1) tat and rev genes. The CEM-TART cell line can be infected by tat and rev-deficient proviral HIV-1 mutants such as HIV-1 MC99IIIBΔTat-Rev (ARP-1943) and used to produce mutant virus that replicates only in CEM-TART cells.
Growth Characteristics: Cells grow in suspension with a doubling time of approximately 48 hours. Maintain cultures at at 0.5 × 106 viable cells per mL and passage every 2 to 3 days. Viability is generally 85% to 95%, but decreases after infection with MC99IIIBΔTat-Rev.
Growth Medium: RPMI 1640 medium supplemented with 20% heat-inactivated fetal bovine serum and 1 µg per mL gentamicin.
ARP-1944 is negative for bacteria, fungi and Mycoplasma.
Each vial of ARP-1944 contains frozen cells in fetal bovine serum containing 10% dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO). Please refer to the
