ARP-3553 is a 293 subcloned cell line that supports Kaposi's sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV) replication.
ARP-3553 is a subgroup of the human embryonal-kidney epithelial cell line 293 transformed by sheared human adenovirus DNA. These cells support KSHV replication in vitro when cocultured with Kaposi’s sarcoma cell lines. It has been used in the isolation and propagation of KSHV from KS-positive skin biopsy specimens. The cells are highly sensitive to KSHV replication, as cytopathic effects in culture are prominent 3 to 4 days following viral adsorption.
Growth Characteristics: Adherent cells. Split 1:5 twice weekly, or when they reach 70% confluency.
Growth Medium: DMEM medium supplemented with 10% fetal bovine serum
ARP-3553 is negative for bacteria, fungi and Mycoplasma.
Each vial of ARP-3553 contains approximately 5.7 × 106 cells in fetal bovine serum containing10% dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO). Please refer to the appropriate data sheet for lot-specific information.
